The crew of one Sunderland is rescued by a second.
The Short Sunderland was never intended for landing or take off on rough seas or even ocean swells, however many pilots took the risk in an attempt to save the lives of those adrift at sea. While on many occasions the operation was successful it is sad to record that many Sunderlands and their crews were lost in the attempt.
