A painting by my late father, James Field. He was an artist and illustrator with a passion for history. Below is the accompanying text he wrote at the time: 

This action was just one of a series of encounters on the 8th September 1755  collectively known as the Battle of Lake George during the French Indian Wars. At the close of the day the French had been defeated and the French General Dieskau wounded and captured.
