A painting by my late father, James Field. He was an artist and illustrator with a passion for history. Below is the accompanying text he wrote at the time:
For most of the World War 2 the Fairey Swordfish was the standard British carrier-borne torpedo bomber even outlasting its replacement.
Various Swordfish squadrons were carried by HMS Furious during the War either as attack aircraft, ship protection or whilst being ferried to other theatres.
This single Swordfish is flying over Furious in one of several camouflage patterns she carried during the war.
