James Field's Tyrannosaurus Rex and Regina

Copied

A painting by my late father, James Field. He was an artist and illustrator with a passion for history and wildlife. Below is the accompanying text he wrote at the time:

A Tyrannosaurus (tyrant-lizard) pair meet on the banks of a late Cretaceous river in what is now western North America. There are indications that their meetings may not have been very cordial as some fossil evidence shows injuries that may have been caused by another member of the same species.
We can imagine that, much like many modern predators, courtship could be traumatic.
