James Field's Deinonychus

Copied

A painting by my late father, James Field. He was an artist and illustrator with a passion for history and wildlife. Below is the accompanying text he wrote at the time:

Small by Dinosaur standards,
3.5feet (1m) high and 10feet (3m) long Deinonychus (terrible-claw) was none the less a most impressive Late Cretaceous, North American predator. Armed with long grasping, clawed fingers and a 5-inch (13cm) long sickle-claw on each foot it was quite capable of taking on much larger prey, especially as fossil evidence suggests that it hunted in packs.
