James Field's Liopleurodon and Prey
A painting by my late father, James Field. He was an artist and illustrator with a passion for history and wildlife. Below is the accompanying text he wrote at the time:
Having eaten its fill of an Ichthyosaur, Liopleurodon (smooth-side-teeth) returns to the murky deep. Recent studies have suggested that the four flipper Plesiosaurs would have had a surprisingly fast acceleration and may well have been ambush hunters. Much like modern Great White Sharks they may well have lurked in the depths and with a sudden rush attacked their prey from below.
